Photo tips
The painting can only be as good as the photo. Thirty seconds choosing the right one is worth it.
What works
- One clear, well-lit photo where the face is easy to see.
- Daylight or a bright room. No filters, no heavy shadows across the face.
- Get close: the face (or the front of the house) fills most of the frame.
- Pets: eye level, both eyes visible, markings easy to see.
- Families: everyone's face clear; up to six people and pets works best.
- Homes: straight-on from the street, in daylight.
- Kids' sport: face visible, ideally in their uniform.
What doesn't
- Blurry, dark or far-away photos.
- Screenshots of screenshots.
- Sunglasses, hats pulled low, or a face turned away.
