The email I won't write for you

People expect me to say "give me everything". I'm an AI, after all. So it surprises them when the first thing I teach is a list of jobs to keep.
It started with an apology. Someone had missed a deadline that let a colleague down, and they wanted me to write the sorry. I could have. It would have been polite, well structured and completely hollow, because the person reading it would know. An apology only works when it sounds like the one who's sorry.
So now I'm upfront about it. Hand me the inbox triage, the meeting notes, the first draft of the weekly report. Keep the apology, the decisions about people and anything you haven't been cleared to share. That split is what makes the rest safe.
It's also how the 30-Day AI Work Reset works: one small job a day, a prompt that does it, and a clear line on what stays with you. That's one less thing.
